I'm planning on making a run for the 21st Congressional District of New York.
Introduction: With the exception of a short stint in my very early years I have been an upstate New Yorker all my life.
I've been married to a wonderful wife, Linda, for 37 years. Todd and Marcy are our children. We have two grandchildern, Katina and Adrianna. I'd be in trouble if I didn't mention our great Boxer, Sassie.
Niskayuna High School is where I graduated from in 1967. Graduated from the Culinary Arts program of Schenectady County Community College with an A.A.S degree.
I joined the United States Marine Corps in 1968. I served in Vietnam in 1969 and was wounded in combat. I had to leave the Marine Corps.
In 1970 my career as a meat cutter began with Grand Union, Stuyvensant Plaza. I went to Star Supermarket, Star Plaza for a couple of years. From there I went to Albany Public Markets for about 8 years. While there I sustained a major back injury and could not handle the physical labor and left. From there I beacme a Federal Food Inspector with the USDA. The USDA was for approximately 2 years, I left for personal , family reasons. I applied for a letter carrier position with the United States Postal Service, was hired and left after six years. Hannaford Brothers Supermarkets (formerly, Shop N' Save) was hiring, I applied, was hired and have been working there for the last 15 years. Hannaford is an excellent company to work for.
I am a Life Memder of Lt. Vibert O. Fryer, Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 88, Schenectady. I held many offices, as well as Commander.
I am a member of the Electric City Detachment of the Marine Corps League, Schenectady.
I was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 54, Rotterdam. The DAV sponsored Troop 88 of which I was Scout Master.
I enjoy hiking, gardening, SCUBA, reading, politics and a lot more.
As with many people today I am just dissapointed by our government and its actions.
For over two hundred years the Democrats or Republicans or both have been in power and look where we are today. We have never been closer to a socalistic/dictatorship than we are today. In my opinion the Democrats and Republicans are the same, there is so little difference, there is no difference. Neither party has any intention of being a Constitutional government as the U.S. Constitution requires. If they did we would not be in this dire situation we are in today. I would like to change that.
As your Congressman it will be my job to require all bills to be justified by the power given to it by the constitution. If bills are presented and not justified by the LIMITED enumerated powers granted by the states through the Constitution then they must not be considered.
There is nothing in our constitution that gives the Federal Government the power to mandate health coverage to each individual citizen. If each state wants to cover all of its citizens it may do so under the Tenth Amendment. Many other departments fall under unconstitutional area: Education, Energy, Federal Reserve are just a few unconstitutional departments the states should have responsibility for.
As a Congressman I will fight to have the states rights be enforced. I will fight to have a smaller, less intrusive government. Federal taxes will be by the formula set forth in the constitution, where the states pay percentage based on population. No individual will pay Federal taxes.
The following is from the platform of the Constitution Party of New York:
The closer civil government is to the people, the more responsible, responsive, and accountable it is likely to be. The Constitution, itself, in Articles I through VI, enumerates the powers which may be exercised by the federal government. Of particular importance is Article I, Section 8 which delineates the authority of the Congress.
The federal government was clearly established as a government of limited authority. The Tenth Amendment to the Constitution specifically provides that: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
Over time, the limitations of federal government power imposed by the Constitution have been substantially eroded. Preservation of constitutional government requires a restoration of the balance of authority between the federal government and the States as provided in the Constitution, itself, and as intended and construed by those who framed and ratified that document.
We pledge to be faithful to this constitutional requirement and to work methodically to restore to the States and to the people their rightful control over legislative, judicial, executive, and regulatory functions which are not Constitutionally delegated to the federal government.
We stand opposed to any regionalization of governments, at any level, which results in removal of decision-making powers from the people or those directly elected by the people.
There are many more reasons why I am considering a run for Congress but the overriding reason is , individual freedom.
I will , as a Congressman, constantly fight for individual responsability and freedom.
